|With time the lines on
our faces change. The skin's
natural materials, like collagen and elastic tissue,
slowly diminish. This results in the deepening of our
normal lines and folds. As well our lips, cheeks or
other facial areas can decrease in size. For
centuries doctors have been looking for the perfect
material to place in these areas giving a safe, fast,
and natural looking improvement. Now a product
has arrived that can provide us with all of the things
we are looking for.
and its derivatives are made of hyaluronic acid. This
is a naturally
occurring substance in our skin. It is always around
our own collagen and helps
provide the skin with its volume and is important to
its normal functioning.
Previously this was a difficult product to make but
through excellent research a
safe and stable form is available.
Restylane®, Perlane, and Restylane Fine are all
made synthetically and unlike
most injectables are not manufactured using any animal
products. This means
that the risk of allergy is so low that testing to this
product is not even
necessary. As well sensitivities or allergies to eggs,
chicken, or beef are not
concerns, nor is the risk of any infections animals
Unlike other esthetic products,
the Q-Med Esthetics products Perlane,
and Restylane Fine Lines has undergone extensive histological
clinical studies. There is an impressive and increasing
body of evidence of their
ease to use, tolerability and effectiveness. A number
of comparative studies with
other implant materials are ongoing.
Each Q-Med Esthetics product contains the same high
stabilized hyaluronic acid: 20 mg per ml. The NASHA
gel concentration has
been carefully selected to provide optimal maintenance
of volume for tissue
augmentation and lifting.
Since the Q-Med Esthetics products contain only minimally
acid, a natural constituent of human tissues, it is
biocompatible and very safe.
There are no contraindications to the use of Q-Med Esthetics
and the precautions are mainly those that should be
observed for any intradermal
How long the effect of Restylane®
products lasts is very individual. It depends on
many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle
and age as well as on
the degree of perfection demanded by the individual.
Clinical experience also
indicates better duration results if each product is
injected as superficially as
possible within the recommended tissue depth. This approach
should take into
consideration the location and size of the area being
treated, patient requests,
skin type and other factors.
Clinical trials show that Restylane® is effective for up to one year after the
treatment of wrinkles and six months after lip augmentation.
